This opportunity
As an RF Engineer, you will be accountable for providing expert level RF technical support and services, task management, governance across all facets of Radio Engineering inclusive of site design, EME, new site delivery cycle, colocation request management, IBC design, site spectrum management, and new equipment product testing. You will oversee, audit and govern all relevant design and planning activities conducted by TPG’s vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and best practice principles.
Responsibilities

- Provide technical expertise, task management and governance functions across all RF disciplines including TPG technical escalation support for vendors and service providers.
- Drive best network outcome in Design against cost, project scope and timelines.
- Responsible for ensuring that TPG’s design requirements are maintained via its joint ventures, including the current Optus/Vodafone Joint Network.
- You will be accountable for ensuring all relevant planning and design activities are carried out in accordance with technical guidelines and processes within VHA.
- Ensure solution delivery meets business objectives through effective stakeholder engagement whilst delivering measurable improvements in customer experience.
- Maintain clear lines of accountability and reporting obligations for all RF services and related tasks carried out both internally and externally through VHA’s contracted partners and vendors.
- Adopt and promote a “customer first” approach with respect to all RF Services and governance functions, both internally and externally through VHA’s contracted partners and vendors.
- Maintain clear lines of accountability and reporting obligations for all engineering design and planning tasks carried out both internally and externally through TPG’s contracted partners and vendors.
- Lead and manage relevant pillar as the SME e.g. site design, EME, new site delivery cycle.
- Manage or lead individuals or small teams through adhoc activities.
Knowledge & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering and/or telecommunications desired but not a prerequisite
- Experience in RAN Design and Planning activities, complimented by Performance and Optimisation capabilities.
- Ability to solve difficult site design issues across all SAED restrictions as well as achieving required coverage and capacity demand requirements.
- Expert level ability to determine appropriate network restrictions for EME requirements at site level.
- Demonstrated strong ability to audit, govern and manage vendors and service providers.
- Demonstrated ability in performing RF planning and design utilising radio planning tools such as ATOLL.
- Detailed knowledge of antenna design, site design, and cellular air interface standards and protocols across multiple technologies and vendors, in particular Nokia.
- Proficient in the use of GIS tools (e.g. MapInfo). Desired capability with Oracle Databases and SQL/VBA programming/scripting.
- Ideally some experience with working in an outsourced managed services or vendor environment.
